Alzira arson attacks escalate following fatal shooting

A series of arson attacks has targeted the L'Alquerieta district in Alzira following the fatal shooting of 56-year-old Enrique Moreno last Sunday. The most recent blaze occurred at 3:30 am at a property on Calle Sagrada Familia, owned by one of the men currently in custody for the murder.

This incident marks the third home to be torched since the shooting, which reportedly stemmed from an altercation between two women related to the parties involved. A vehicle parked outside one of the suspects' homes was also set on fire. Firefighters from Alzira and Cullera worked for over an hour to extinguish the flames, which had spread across two floors of the building. Two elderly women from neighboring properties were evacuated as a precaution.

In response to the escalating violence and retaliatory attacks, the Spain National Police and Alzira Local Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood. Five suspects have been detained in connection with the murder, with four transferred to Picassent prison.
