Amalfi Coast heavy‑vehicle ban delayed to July 27 with new exemptions

The provisional ban on heavy vehicles (over 5 tonnes) along the former state roads SS 373 and SS 366 on the Amalfi Coast was postponed until 27 July. The suspension was agreed by the Province of Salerno, the Conference of Mayors of the Costa d’Amalfi and the municipalities directly affected, after a heated but constructive meeting held at the provincial administration.

The new ordinance retains traffic flow on the two arteries until 30 September, while allowing exemptions for public‑service vehicles, emergency and rescue units, and essential economic activities. Authorities also pledged an urgent dialogue with the Campania Region to accelerate safety works and the expropriation process for the first construction lot funded by the municipality of Ravello, and to commission design work for a second widening phase.

Local officials, including the provincial president and mayoral representatives, expressed satisfaction, describing the agreement as a “positive synthesis” that averts the severe repercussions the original ban would have caused for tourism, mobility and the regional economy.
