Amanal Petros finishes second at Frankfurt Marathon

European champion Amanal Petros finished second at the Frankfurt Marathon, clocking a time of 2:05:46. Despite leading for much of the race, Petros lost his rhythm following a confrontation with a food delivery cyclist parked on the ideal racing line. This disruption allowed Ethiopia’s Jirata Denki to overtake him and secure victory with a time of 2:05:26.

Petros’ performance marks the third-fastest German marathon time in history. The race was held under challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain and gusty winds.

In the women’s race, Blanka Dörfel achieved a standout marathon debut. The 24-year-old from Berlin finished second behind Ethiopia’s Zeineba Worku (2:19:45) with a time of 2:20:46. Dörfel’s performance is the second-fastest by a German woman in history, trailing only Irina Mikitenko’s 2008 record.
