2026 Frankfurt Marathon Results

Overview

The 2026 Frankfurt Marathon was characterized by high-level performances amidst challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain and gusty winds.

In the men’s race, Amanal Petros finished second with a time of 2:05:46, which stands as the third-fastest marathon time in German history. Petros, who had led for much of the race, lost his rhythm after a confrontation with a food delivery cyclist parked on the ideal racing line. This disruption enabled Ethiopia’s Jirata Denki to overtake him and secure the victory with a time of 2:05:26.

In the women’s category, Blanka Dörfel delivered a standout debut. The 24-year-old from Berlin finished second with a time of 2:20:46, trailing Ethiopia’s Zeineba Worku, who won in 2:19:45. Dörfel’s performance is the second-fastest by a German woman in history, surpassed only by Irina Mikitenko’s 2008 record.

The event also marked the final time Jo Schindler served as race director before transitioning to an advisory role following the sale of his agency to London Marathon Events.
