Amapá police investigate weapons diversion from Macapá Forum
The Amapá Civil Police launched ‘Operation Senhor das Armas’ to dismantle a scheme involving the diversion of weapons, ammunition, and accessories from the Macapá Forum to criminal factions. The investigation identified three public servants—two military police officers and one security agent assigned to the Amapá Court of Justice—as key participants.
A military police lieutenant, responsible for the Macapá Forum’s strongroom, is alleged to have led the diversions. According to authorities, a security agent manipulated systems to remove weaponry, which was then sent to a clandestine workshop to have serial numbers erased and identifications altered. The modified weapons were subsequently offered to buyers via messaging apps, with some being negotiated with criminal faction leaders through orders originating from within the prison system.
Authorities have frozen assets and values exceeding R$ 26 million. The investigation also uncovered a complex financial network involving shell companies, third-party accounts, and fragmented deposits. During the operation, police seized vehicles, documents, and firearms, and located the workshop used for tampering with the weapons.
