Amapá weapons diversion investigation

Overview

The Amapá Civil Police initiated ‘Operation Senhor das Armas’ to investigate a scheme involving the diversion of weapons, ammunition, and accessories from the Macapá Forum to criminal factions.

Authorities identified three public servants—two military police officers and one security agent from the Amapá Court of Justice—as key participants. A military police lieutenant allegedly led the diversions, while a security agent reportedly manipulated systems to remove weaponry. The items were sent to a clandestine workshop to erase serial numbers and alter identifications before being offered to buyers via messaging apps, including negotiations with criminal faction leaders via orders from within the prison system.

As part of the investigation, police seized vehicles, documents, and firearms, and located the tampering workshop. Assets and values exceeding R$ 26 million have been frozen following the discovery of a financial network involving shell companies and fragmented deposits.
