Amarnath Yatra 2026 Security Drill Completed Ahead of July Start
The Anantnag police, together with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire and emergency services, health officials and other agencies, carried out a mock drill at the Nunwan base camp in preparation for the 2026 Amarnath Yatra. The exercise tested rapid response, communication, crowd‑control, evacuation procedures and inter‑agency coordination to handle possible emergencies during the pilgrimage.
The Yatra is scheduled to commence on 3 July and conclude on 9 August (Rakhi). Pilgrims must register through the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and authorized banks before traveling.
Officials said the drill confirmed the readiness of the participating forces and reinforced their commitment to ensure a safe, peaceful and pilgrim‑friendly environment for the upcoming trek.
