Amarnath Yatra 2026 sees extensive security and health preparations in Kashmir

The Anantnag police have launched ‘Project Hawk Eye’, a multi‑layered surveillance system for the 2026 Amarnath Yatra. The initiative deploys five drones, 416 high‑resolution CCTV cameras with facial‑recognition software, 28 elevated observation posts (Machan Morchas) and 22 specially trained sniper teams to monitor the pilgrimage route in real time.

The National Disaster Management Authority conducted a tabletop exercise in Ganderbal to test response plans for fire, stampedes, drownings and other emergencies along the Yatra route, involving police, health, fire, meteorological and security agencies.

AIIMS Patna will send a team of five doctors in three batches to provide medical care at key camps, supporting the government’s “Zero Mortality” goal for the pilgrimage.

The Jammu & Kashmir Traffic Department issued a detailed convoy timetable, specifying departure and return windows for pilgrim convoys from Jammu, Baltal, Pahalgam and other base camps to ensure orderly movement and reduce traffic congestion.
