Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims Receive Upgraded Railway and Facility Support in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu division of Northern Railway has equipped Jammu Tawi station with a covered passenger holding area, continuous water supply, 24/7 help desks, enhanced CCTV surveillance and additional security staff to manage the surge of pilgrims for the 2024 Amarnath Yatra. Platforms 4 and 5 have been commissioned for train operations, and regular announcements guide travelers.

Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg inspected the Yatra Facilitation Centre at Nowgam Railway Station and the transit camp at Pantha Chowk, noting the provision of separate sanitation, drinking water, RFID and eKYC counters, and signage to streamline pilgrim movement. Nearly four lakh pilgrims have registered online, with on‑spot registration also available. Mountain rescue teams, NDRF, SDRF and other security agencies are on standby, while convoy schedules from Jammu are being strictly enforced.

Officials emphasized coordination among departments to ensure a safe, comfortable pilgrimage for the estimated thousands of devotees traveling to the 3,800‑metre‑high Amarnath cave shrine.
