Amarnath Yatra 2026 draws 2.75 million pilgrims, sees bus accident and railway app push

Since the start of the 2026 Amarnath Yatra on July 3, more than 2.75 million devotees have performed darshan in the first 11 days. On July 14, 24,259 pilgrims viewed the holy cave shrine, and a convoy of 5,335 pilgrims departed Jammu for the valley in two escorted groups. A bus brake failure near Chanderkote on the Jammu‑Srinagar highway caused a collision that injured 18 pilgrims with minor injuries and seriously wounded the driver. All injured were treated at District Hospital Ramban and released, and alternate vehicles were provided so the pilgrimage convoy resumed its journey.

The Northern Railway’s Jammu division has urged Yatra pilgrims to use the “Rail One” mobile app for ticket booking and travel information. The app offers 24‑hour access to general tickets, PNR status, live train locations, platform details and on‑board catering services. Digital tickets displayed within the app are the only valid proof of travel, and screenshots are not accepted. Officials encourage pilgrims to download the app and plan their journey in advance to ensure a safe and hassle‑free trip.
