Amazon Alexa introduces AI-powered price alerts and auto-buy features

Amazon has introduced AI-driven shopping tools through Alexa for Shopping, formerly known as Rufus, which allow users to monitor price fluctuations and automate purchases. The service can notify users when an item's price drops and, for eligible Prime members, can automatically complete a purchase once a pre-selected price target is met.

Users can utilize Amazon’s built-in Price History feature to view how a product's cost has changed over the last 30, 90, or 365 days. While third-party applications like CamelCamelCamel and Keepa can track price history and set alerts, they lack the capability to place orders automatically. To use the automated features, users can interact with Alexa on Echo devices to request that the assistant watch specific items and execute orders at designated price points.
