Amazon announces 16 billion euro investment in Germany
Amazon has announced plans to invest over 16 billion euros in Germany during 2027, according to an announcement made at the ‘Invest in Germany Summit’ in Berlin.
A significant portion of this capital, totaling 4.8 billion euros, is earmarked for the expansion of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in the Frankfurt region. This follows previous investments by AWS in German data centers totaling 8.8 billion euros between 2024 and 2026.
Additional funds will support the AWS European Sovereign Cloud in Brandenburg, which is projected to receive 7.8 billion euros in investments through 2040. The remaining capital from the 2027 announcement will be distributed across other sectors, including the Amazon Leo satellite internet service, logistics networks, and Prime Video productions. The company also intends to establish a second research center focused on robotics and AI.
