Amazon cuts 250 jobs in Devices and Services division

Amazon has eliminated approximately 250 positions within its Devices and Services unit, a move primarily affecting software development roles. The company confirmed the layoffs following an internal organizational review aimed at increasing operational efficiency and aligning staffing with its current product roadmap.

Employees were notified of the terminations through early-morning emails and text messages. Cherie Robinson, Vice President of Human Resources for the division, stated that the decision followed a thorough review of the company’s structure.

The workforce reduction comes shortly after the company launched several new products, including updated Kindle e-readers, tablets, and new Alexa-powered devices such as a smart alarm clock and a digital photo frame. This latest round of cuts follows a separate reduction of approximately 1,000 positions in Amazon’s retail division earlier this month.
