Amazon dominates German e-commerce and launches new Android tablets

Amazon maintains a dominant position in the German e-commerce market, with a Statista survey indicating that 75 percent of respondents aged 18 to 64 purchased from the company within the last year. Following Amazon, eBay and Temu are in close competition for second place, with 32 percent and 31 percent usage respectively. Other notable retailers include Otto at 21 percent, Zalando at 20 percent, H&M at 19 percent, and MediaMarkt at 18 percent.

In addition to its retail dominance, Amazon is expanding its hardware lineup with three new Alexa-integrated tablets: the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Alexa Tablet 11, and Alexa Tablet 8. A significant change for these new models is the transition from the proprietary Fire OS to the Android operating system, which grants users access to the Google Play Store. The 12 Pro model features a 4-nanometer 8-core chip designed for high-speed processing and graphics. Shipping for these devices in Germany is scheduled to begin on October 19.
