Amazon dominates U.S. online market with 40% share

Amazon continues to dominate the e-commerce landscape, commanding 40% of the U.S. online market, significantly ahead of its closest competitor, Walmart, which holds 11.4%. The company is currently expanding its logistics capabilities, including the rollout of 30-minute delivery services in certain areas.

Since its inception in 1995 as an online bookseller, Amazon has evolved into a massive entity spanning retail, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. In the U.S., the company reports that over 300 million items across more than 35 categories are eligible for free Prime shipping. E-commerce is projected to account for 17.4% of total U.S. retail sales this year, reaching approximately $1.4 trillion.
