Amazon expands reach via YouTube shopping and Twitch AI training

Amazon is expanding its influence across major streaming platforms through new integration and data utilization strategies.

YouTube has enabled creators to tag Amazon products directly in Shorts, long-form videos, and livestreams. This feature allows creators to earn commissions on sales, provided they participate in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program. However, the program is currently limited to 14 countries, including the USA, Japan, and Brazil; notably, Germany is excluded from the earning capabilities, though German viewers can still see product tags.

Simultaneously, Amazon is leveraging Twitch content to bolster its artificial intelligence development. Since August 2026, Twitch has updated its terms of service to allow the platform to use video, audio, and chat data as training material for Amazon’s generative AI. This data collection is enabled by default, requiring users to manually opt out. While Twitch remains a dominant force in live streaming, these changes introduce new implications for streamer revenue and data privacy.
