Amazon greenlights US version of comedy competition ‘LOL: Last One Laughing’

Amazon MGM Studios has ordered a U.S. adaptation of the international comedy competition series “LOL: Last One Laughing,” to be streamed on Prime Video. The format, adapted from the Japanese series Documental, challenges ten comedians to avoid laughing for six hours, with the last one standing declared the winner. Production will be handled by Fulwell Entertainment, known for shows such as “The Kardashians” and “Friends: The Reunion.” Executive producers include Ben Winston, Emma Conway and Eric Pankowski, who will also serve as showrunner. Jenn Levy, head of nonfiction series at Amazon MGM Studios, said the show “transcends language and culture – the premise is beautifully simple, try not to laugh, and audiences around the world have fallen for it instantly.” No cast or host has been announced yet.
