PayPal Installment Payments Launch on Amazon Germany and Austria
PayPal and Amazon announced that, beginning in August, PayPal’s installment‑payment service will be integrated directly into the Amazon.de checkout and the Amazon mobile app for customers in Germany and Austria. Eligible purchases between €30 and €10,000 can be split into fixed monthly installments.
Standard repayment periods are three, six, twelve and twenty‑four months, while Amazon shoppers will also have the option of longer thirty‑six and forty‑eight‑month terms. The service carries a regular effective annual interest rate of 11.49 %, with selected products offered at 0 % financing. A German or Austrian PayPal account and a successful credit check are required. Customers can view pricing and repayment details before purchase and manage their plans through the PayPal app or online dashboard, with automatic bank‑account or debit‑card withdrawals and optional early repayments.
Carola Wahl, Managing Director for PayPal in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, called the integration a “milestone” that expands PayPal’s “Buy Now, Pay Later” offering. Rocco Bräuniger, Country Manager for Amazon DACH, highlighted the added flexibility for shoppers at the familiar Amazon checkout.
