Amazon MGM launches search for new James Bond lead actor
Amazon MGM Studios has appointed veteran casting director Nina Gold to head the search for the next actor to portray James Bond, following Daniel Craig’s departure. The studio confirmed the casting process is under way but offered no details on candidates.
Industry sources and prediction markets have highlighted a shortlist that includes stage‑trained Tom Francis, Callum Turner, Jacob Elordía, Aaron Taylor‑Johnson, Henry Cavill, and several others such as Jack Lowden, Jonathan Bailey and Damson Idris. Polymarket’s odds currently favor Turner's name, while Vegas bettors have also placed wagers on Elordía and Lowden. A separate commentary notes that Cavill’s age, height and recent superhero commitments make him an unlikely choice for the role.
The casting decision is expected to shape the future direction of the long‑running franchise, which remains a major cultural and commercial asset for both the UK‑originated series and its new US‑based owner, Amazon MGM.
