Amazon MGM schedules August auditions to select new James Bond

Amazon MGM Studios, which took full creative control of the James Bond franchise in 2025, has entered the final phase of selecting the next actor to portray the iconic British spy. Director Denis Villeneuve and producers Emy Pascal and David Heyman are overseeing the process.

Auditions for the role are slated for August 2024, after casting director Nina Gold signed on in April. Screenwriter Steven Knight, known for "Peaky Blinders," is working on a story drawing heavily from Ian Fleming’s early novels.

While the shortlist remains secret, industry sources have mentioned Haris Dickinson, Callum Turner and Jacob Elordi as possible candidates, and note that older actors such as Idris Elba and Henry Cavill are unlikely to be considered. Amazon reportedly wants a Bond under 30 who could appear in multiple films, similar to Daniel Craig’s long tenure.

The studio aims to make a final casting decision by the end of 2026, with filming scheduled to begin in 2027.
