Amazon MGM Studios advances casting for new James Bond

Amazon MGM Studios is entering a decisive stage in the search for the next James Bond to succeed Daniel Craig. The studio is reportedly preparing camera tests for early September to narrow down the list of candidates for the upcoming film, provisionally titled ‘Bond 26’.

While no official announcement has been made, industry reports suggest several actors are under consideration, including Jack Barton, Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal, and Harris Dickinson. The project is expected to represent a franchise reboot, with Denis Villeneuve reportedly linked to directing.

In a separate reflection on the franchise's history, director Steven Spielberg revealed in an interview that he once sought to direct a Bond film but was unable to secure a contract with former producer Cubby Broccoli. Spielberg noted that his current professional standing means he is now beyond the budget required for such a role.
