Amazon MGM Studios Advances James Bond Reboot Casting Search

Amazon MGM Studios is developing a reboot of the James Bond film franchise with director Denis Villeneuve and writer Steven Knight attached. The studio has opened a worldwide casting search to replace Daniel Craig, and a range of actors are being discussed in the media.

British actor Idris Elba, long linked to the role, told British GQ that Bond should remain true to its original conception and expressed doubt that some international markets would accept a Black actor, rejecting calls to make the character “woke.”

In a separate promotional push, UK actor Jonathan Bailey appeared in a Martini campaign styled as a “Martini Man,” positioning himself as a possible Bond candidate and highlighting LGBTQ + representation. The casting process remains confidential, with Amazon MGM Studios indicating further updates will be shared when appropriate.
