Amazon MGM Studios narrows James Bond casting shortlist

Amazon MGM Studios has reportedly narrowed down the shortlist of actors to play the next James Bond. The upcoming 26th film in the franchise is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with a screenplay by Steven Knight.

According to reports, the shortlist of finalists includes several established rising stars such as Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal, Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Harris Dickinson. Notably, Jack Barton, a British actor known for roles in ‘Poor Things’ and ‘Heartstopper’, has emerged as a surprising frontrunner despite being relatively unknown for major film leading roles.

Casting is being overseen by Nina Gold. While some industry commentators suggest Jack Lowden may be a strong fit, the inclusion of Barton aligns with previous franchise preferences for casting a fresh face in the iconic role.
