Amazon launches 1,000‑job logistics hub in Jesi, Italy

Amazon inaugurated a new 60,000 sqm distribution centre in Jesi, Marche, marking its ninth hub in Italy and the first in the region. The project involved a €180 million investment and is slated to create up to 1,000 permanent jobs over the next three years. The facility hosts more than 60 professional roles, from warehouse operatives to IT specialists, and incorporates ergonomic workstations, automation and extensive training programmes. The first item processed was a LEGO Botanicals set, chosen as a symbol of growth and innovation.

Local officials highlighted the hub’s size, with Interporto Marche president Massimo Stronati calling it “one of the biggest logistics hubs in Europe – a great day for Jesi and the Marche.” The centre is expected to boost regional commerce, giving local SMEs easier access to Amazon’s platform. However, residents’ groups have voiced concerns about increased traffic and environmental impact. Mayors of nearby towns have cited studies that found no significant effects but pledged ongoing monitoring and infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to the Ancona Nord interchange and a new Ancona Centro exit.
