Amazon pauses operations with 21 Air after fatal Miami plane crash
Amazon has suspended operations with cargo carrier 21 Air following a fatal crash at Miami International Airport on September 6. The incident involved Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300 freighter arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, which overran the runway and struck two vehicles on the ground.
The crash resulted in five fatalities and five injuries among the occupants of the vehicles. Preliminary evidence from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) indicates that pilots had expressed concerns regarding the aircraft's speed during the landing attempt. Data also suggests that speed brakes or thrust reversers were not deployed before the aircraft traveled approximately 1,300 feet past the runway.
Amazon stated it is reviewing the circumstances of the accident and supporting the ongoing investigation. 21 Air expressed confidence in its safety policies and training while cooperating with authorities and supporting the families affected by the tragedy.
