Amazon to invest over €16 billion in Germany by 2027

Amazon has announced a major investment plan for Germany, committing more than €16 billion (approximately $17.9 billion) by 2027. The announcement was made during the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin.

The capital will be distributed across several strategic sectors, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and satellite infrastructure. A significant portion, roughly €4.8 billion, is earmarked for expanding cloud and AI infrastructure through the AWS region centered around Frankfurt. The company also plans to expand its Amazon Leo satellite network to provide internet services to regions with poor broadband coverage.

In the logistics sector, Amazon is modernizing fulfillment centers and expanding its network, which has already contributed to the creation of 3,000 new jobs. The company is also establishing a new robotics laboratory in Berlin, a move expected to double its research staff in the capital. Additionally, the investment includes funding for original content productions for Prime Video.

This expansion comes as Amazon seeks to strengthen its European presence while navigating the European Union's strict regulatory framework regarding technology dependence and the impact of AI on the labor market.
