Amazon transfers Malpensa operations to Brescia Montichiari

Amazon is ending its ten-year presence at Malpensa Airport's Terminal 2, transferring its flight-related activities to Brescia Montichiari Airport. The move affects nearly 200 employees currently working through Mle, the company contracted by the multinational to handle operations.

The labor union Cub Trasporti has criticized the working conditions maintained during Amazon's tenure at Malpensa. The union alleges a model dominated by precarious employment, claiming that approximately 80% of the workforce at the Terminal 2 warehouse consisted of temporary or seasonal contracts.

Cub Trasporti argues that despite the e-commerce sector becoming a structural part of the global economy, the work was characterized by high turnover, part-time shifts, and on-call contracts. While negotiations are underway to relocate the affected staff, the union highlights that many workers were never offered permanent positions despite the continuous nature of the business.
