Nvidia negotiates Hugging Face acquisition and expands AWS partnership FAST-MOVING

Nvidia is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire Hugging Face, the leading open-source AI model platform, in a deal valued at over $13 billion. The potential acquisition would allow Nvidia to expand its influence from hardware into the model distribution layer, potentially centralizing the open-source AI supply chain. While negotiations are ongoing and a final agreement has not been reached, the move highlights Nvidia's strategy to control more layers of the AI technology stack.

Separately, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a major expansion of its partnership with Nvidia. AWS plans to deploy an additional 2 million Nvidia GPUs across its global infrastructure during 2027 and 2028, following a previous commitment for 1 million units. This deployment will include advanced Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra models.

The collaboration extends beyond GPUs to include Nvidia CPUs, such as the Vera architecture designed for agentic AI, as well as networking and robotics platforms. Additionally, AWS and Nvidia plan to develop dedicated AI infrastructure for US federal and national security workloads, featuring 100,000 GPUs on secure, certified systems.
