Amazonas community tourism project extends funding applications

The Amazon Sustainable Foundation (FAS) has extended the application deadline for the Prospera na Floresta Project until October 15. The initiative aims to select 30 community-based sustainable tourism ventures in the Amazonas region, specifically targeting inns and restaurants located within the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve, the Puranga Conquista Sustainable Development Reserve, the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve, and the Rio Negro Environmental Protection Area.

Participants must be led by indigenous peoples, riverine communities, quilombolas, or other traditional populations. Of the 30 selected ventures, 26 will receive seed capital of up to R$ 23,000 for physical infrastructure, equipment, and materials. Four more mature businesses will receive up to R$ 50,000 for business acceleration. Additionally, all selected participants will receive technological solutions, including off-grid photovoltaic systems and satellite connectivity, to address local challenges regarding energy and internet access.
