The Amazonas state security agency reported a 32.5% drop in intentional violent deaths in 2025, falling from 1,173 to 799 victims – the lowest count in the state’s history. Femicide also fell 31.7%, giving Amazonas the lowest femicide rate in Brazil. Vehicle thefts and cellphone thefts decreased as well. Secretary of Public Security of Amazonas, Coronel Paiva, credited the results to integrated policing, intelligence and technology, and pledged continued intensive patrols.

In the neighbouring state of Acre, officials announced a budget of R$1.02 billion for public‑security expenses in 2025. The figure is part of a national record year in which Brazil spent a total of R$163.1 billion on security – R$131.2 billion from states, R$18 billion from the Union and R$13.7 billion from municipalities. Acre’s spending ranks among the lower‑volume state allocations in the North region, behind Pará, Amazonas and Rondônia. Analysts note that higher spending does not automatically translate into greater effectiveness against organized crime.
