Amazonas regional initiatives focus on food security and agricultural support

In the state of Amazonas, Brazil, local government initiatives are focusing on food security and agricultural support. In Parintins, the Municipal Secretariat of Production and Supply (SEMPA) has summoned selected family farmers to sign the Commitment Term for the 2026 Food Acquisition Program (PAA). The signing period is scheduled from September 28 to October 2, 2024, at the Luiz Lourenço de Souza Exhibition Park.

Separately, in Santarém, the Sesc Mesa Brasil program, in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, collected 10 tons of food through a solidarity ticket initiative during the Sairé 2026 cultural events. The collected food was distributed to 13 institutions, benefiting approximately 1,700 families in the Alter do Chão region.
