Amazonas state agencies implement food security and regional trade initiatives
The Amazonas State Sustainable Development Agency (ADS) has released a schedule for regional product fairs in Manaus. The program includes six traditional editions and two special editions, allowing rural producers to sell items such as vegetables, fruits, coffee, and handicrafts directly to consumers at various locations including Sumaúma Park Shopping and Ponta Negra.
In Eirunepé, the State Secretariat of Rural Production (Sepror), via the Amazonas Institute for Agricultural and Forestry Sustainable Development (Idam), delivered approximately three tons of food to roughly 200 indigenous families facing food insecurity. The delivery included flour, bananas, tapioca, cassava, lemon, and pepper.
This action is part of the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), a collaboration between the Amazonas state government and the Federal Government. In 2026, the program has invested over R$ 3.7 million, facilitating the acquisition of more than 581 tons of food from 498 family farmers across 36 municipalities to ensure food security, particularly in areas affected by drought.
