Amazonian culture highlighted through music and art in Brazil
Cultural events in Brazil are highlighting the diversity and environmental challenges of the Amazon region. In Recife, the show ‘As Amazônias’ will be performed at CAIXA Cultural on August 21, 22, 28, and 29. The production features artists Aíla, Djuena Tikuna, and Patrícia Bastos, combining music, visual arts, and technology to showcase indigenous traditions, Afro-Amazonian roots, and contemporary rhythms such as carimbó and marabaixo.
In Santarém, the Centro Cultural João Fona is hosting the II Exhibition of Amazonian Cultural Heritage Art. The exhibition features ten works from artists across Pará, focusing on the relationship between material and immaterial cultural heritage and the impacts of the climate emergency on the Amazon. The event includes accessibility resources such as Libras interpretation, audio description, and Braille materials.
