Amazonian youth initiatives highlight culture and activism
Various cultural and activist initiatives are highlighting Amazonian youth and traditional communities in Brazil. The Cine Floresta Digital virtual showcase features short films produced by young people from Acre, Amapá, and Pará. These productions, developed through an audiovisual training course, cover diverse themes including Puyanawa women's sacred traditions, açaí entrepreneurship in Mazagão, and local legends from Acará-Açu.
Simultaneously, the Jovens do Futuro Festival is taking place in Rio Branco, Acre. Organized by the Chico Mendes Committee, the festival focuses on the theme ‘Pertencer para Proteger’ (Belonging to Protect). Inspired by the legacy of environmentalist Chico Mendes, the event serves as a platform for environmental, social, and political discussion, integrating cultural activities, indigenous crafts, and the State Conference of Communication of the Forest Peoples.
