Ambato authorities aim to recover historic theaters and ecosystems
In Ambato, Ecuador, provincial authorities and the Vice Minister of Culture and Heritage, Pamela Cortés, are discussing initiatives to recover abandoned historic theaters. The goal is to restore these cultural spaces, which have often been converted into warehouses or churches, to serve as venues for local artists, musicians, and theatrical companies. Additionally, Governor Gonzalo Callejas emphasized the need to better preserve and exhibit plastic arts heritage currently stored in municipal warehouses.
In the Pilahuín parish, the Tungurahua Provincial Government is conducting ecological restoration near the Chiquicahua reservoir. Through assisted reforestation and revegetation efforts, the project aims to recover high-Andean paramo ecosystems and protect water sources. These activities, supported by the Chiquicha environmental micro-enterprise, serve as a foundation for the proposed Chiquicahua Andean Eco-Park, intended to promote landscape recovery and environmental sustainability.
