AMC worker assaulted during ticket inspection in Calabria

A female worker for Azienda Mobilità Catanzaro (AMC) was assaulted by a passenger while performing routine ticket inspections on a bus in Calabria. The incident occurred during a check of travel documents, which escalated into physical violence against the employee.

Law enforcement officers intervened promptly, managing to stop and identify the alleged aggressor. The FILT-CGIL union, represented by coordinator Mario Marchio, has condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the injured worker. The union noted that this is not an isolated event, describing it as part of a “worrying pattern of assaults and attempted assaults” against AMC personnel recorded in recent months.

FILT-CGIL is calling on both the company and local institutions to implement effective preventive measures and protection tools to ensure the safety and dignity of public transport workers.
