AMD launches Ryzen 5 5500F and Ryzen 5 7500 processors

AMD has expanded its desktop processor lineup with the addition of two new Ryzen 5 models targeting the entry-level market for both the AM4 and AM5 platforms.

The Ryzen 5 7500 is a Zen 4-based processor designed for the AM5 socket. Featuring six cores and 12 threads, it offers a base clock of 3.7 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.0 GHz. Unlike the Ryzen 5 7500F, this model includes integrated RDNA 2 graphics with two compute units capable of reaching 2.2 GHz, making it suitable for basic display tasks without a discrete GPU. It includes 32 MB of L3 cache and operates at a 65W TDP.

The Ryzen 5 5500F is designed for the long-standing AM4 platform. Based on the Zen 3 Vermeer architecture, it also features six cores and 12 threads with a base clock of 3.0 GHz and a boost clock of 4.4 GHz. This model is distinguished by its lack of integrated graphics, requiring a dedicated graphics card, and a reduced L3 cache of 16 MB. It also operates at a 65W TDP.

These releases highlight AMD's strategy of maintaining the relevance of the AM4 platform nearly a decade after its introduction while providing more affordable entry points for the newer AM5 ecosystem.
