AMD Extends AM5 to 2029, Details Zen 7 Roadmap; Taiwanese Firm Launches EPYC 9006 Servers
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) revealed at the Advancing AI 2026 conference that its upcoming Zen 7 desktop processors are expected to be the final CPUs built on the AM5 socket, extending the platform’s life‑cycle to 2029. Zen 7 will use TSMC’s advanced A16/A14 process and add ACE AI extensions. The subsequent Zen 8 architecture will shift to a new AM6 platform that supports DDR6 memory and PCIe 6.0, marking a major generational upgrade.
Taiwanese technology group Jiesida announced that its subsidiary ItsYang is releasing a full line of servers based on AMD’s EPYC 9006 series. The EPYC 9006 processors are fabricated on a 2‑nm process, offer up to 256 cores and native PCIe Gen6 support, and are targeted at AI, cloud and high‑performance computing workloads. ItsYang’s modular DC‑MHS designs include AI‑optimized 1U and 2U servers for edge AI, large language model training, and general‑purpose data‑center use.
