AMD launches Zen 6 EPYC server CPUs and Ryzen AI Max+ PRO PCs
AMD has expanded its hardware portfolio with the launch of the EPYC 9006 series server processors and the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 400 series for agentic PCs.
The EPYC 9006 family, based on Zen 6 and Zen 6c architectures, includes 31 SKUs ranging from 8 to 256 cores. The flagship EPYC 9996 features 256 cores and is priced at approximately $14,904. Reports suggest high demand for these server chips, with 2027 production quotas already sold out. The platform is designed for high-performance computing, cloud environments, and AI clusters, supporting up to 16 channels of DDR5 memory.
In the consumer and professional workstation space, AMD introduced the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 400 series, designed to support local, agentic AI workflows. These systems, such as the HP ZBook Ultra G3a and Minisforum MS-S1 Max-P495, can feature up to 192GB of unified memory, allowing for the local processing of large AI models with up to 300 billion parameters. This hardware enables developers and enterprises to run complex AI agents with enhanced privacy by keeping data on-device.
