AMD launches Ryzen 7 7700X3D CPU for AM5 platform, priced at $329

AMD has introduced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, an 8‑core/16‑thread desktop processor for the AM5 socket. It features the second‑generation 3D V‑Cache with a total of 104 MB cache, runs at a 4.0 GHz base clock with a 4.5 GHz boost, and has a 120 W TDP. The chip retails for a $329 MSRP and is positioned as a lower‑cost alternative to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which sells for about $350. Benchmarks show the 7700X3D delivering roughly 2‑3 % lower gaming performance than the 7800X3D while using less power (about 51 W versus 58 W) and running cooler (≈69 °C under load). AMD promotes the CPU for high‑frame‑rate gaming and multitasking workloads, noting its compatibility with DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0, and the long‑term AM5 platform.

Newegg offered the processor as an exclusive launch, aiming to ease the cost of building an AM5 system amid rising DDR5 prices. Separately, ASUS released a beta BIOS update for AMD X670 and X870 motherboards to improve compatibility with DDR5 modules that use CXMT memory chips, signalling broader ecosystem support for the new CPU.
