AMD Radeon GPUs see 74% DLSS 5 performance boost via community mod
Independent developer Daniel Blanco has achieved a significant performance boost for the DLSS-NR-on-AMD project, increasing the efficiency of NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD Radeon GPUs by approximately 74% within a single day.
The project, which uses a custom implementation to run NVIDIA’s neural rendering models on AMD hardware, saw two major updates. The Alpha 0.3.3 version provided a 23% performance increase and introduced a graphical installer with configuration tools. Shortly after, the Alpha 0.4.0 update optimized the runtime further, adding a 42% boost over the previous version.
In testing with Cyberpunk 2077 at 3440x1440 resolution, frame rates rose from roughly 30 FPS in earlier versions to 50 FPS with the latest optimizations. While the tool primarily targets RDNA 4 architecture (Radeon RX 9000 series), it is also functional on RDNA 3 hardware (RX 7000 series), though with higher performance penalties. The project remains an unofficial community mod and is not supported by NVIDIA.
