AMD to relaunch Ryzen 7 5800X3D for AM4 users

AMD plans to relaunch the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor in 2026 as a special edition to mark the 10th anniversary of the AM4 platform. According to Travis Kirsch, Director of Customer Product Management at AMD, the decision was planned well before the DDR5 memory shortages and was supported by CEO Lisa Su.

The relaunch is intended as a final upgrade option for users on the DDR4 memory platform. Because the original production run had ceased, AMD had to undergo a significant re-engineering process. This involved working with TSMC to adapt the chip to new manufacturing methods, as the original chip-stacking techniques used for the 2022 release were no longer in use.

While AMD continues to target the high-end gaming market, the company also maintains an entry-level presence with several Ryzen 3 models available for both AM4 and AM5 platforms. Recent data indicates AMD's growing market presence, reaching a 48.4% share in certain segments according to Steam survey results.
