AMD unveils EPYC Venice server processor performance details

AMD has released performance details for its next-generation EPYC “Venice” server processors, which are based on the Zen 6 and Zen 6c architectures. The flagship 256-core EPYC 9996 model reportedly demonstrates significant performance gains, showing a 78% improvement over the previous generation 192-core EPYC 9965.

In SPEC CPU 2026 Integer Rate tests, AMD claims the 256-core EPYC 9996 achieves 2.37 times the performance of Intel Xeon 6980P (128 cores) and 2.24 times that of NVIDIA Vera (88 cores). The Venice series supports features including 16-channel DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen 6, CXL 3.1, and AVX-512.

Additionally, the AIDA64 system information and diagnostic tool has updated to version 8.40, providing preliminary support for AMD's upcoming Zen 7 architecture and EPYC server processors. The update also includes support for the Radeon RX 9050 GPU.
