American Horror Story: 13 premieres with major franchise crossover

The long-running horror anthology series American Horror Story returns for its 13th season, titled ‘13’, premiering September 24, 2026, on FX and Hulu. Described by creator Ryan Murphy as an ‘Avengers-style’ crossover, the season aims to unite characters and storylines from across the franchise’s history.

The season features a massive reunion of series veterans, including Jessica Lange, who returns to play four of her iconic characters, and Sarah Paulson, who will portray multiple roles. Other returning stars include Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, and Billie Lourd. Newcomers to the franchise include Paul Anthony Kelly and John Waters.

Unlike previous self-contained seasons, this installment draws from the entire series universe. The release schedule is designed as a countdown to Halloween, with 13 episodes scheduled to air over approximately five weeks. A New York City premiere event was held at The Hotel Chelsea to celebrate the launch.

Additionally, Ryan Murphy revealed that Ariana Grande was originally intended to reprise her role as Chanel #2 from ‘Scream Queens’ in a crossover event, but her Eternal Sunshine Tour prevented the collaboration from happening.
