American Horror Story Season 13 crossover and renewal

Overview

The thirteenth season of the horror anthology series, ‘American Horror Story: 13’, premiered on 24 September 2026, on FX and Hulu in the United States, and on Disney+ internationally. Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the 13-episode crossover event is described as an ‘Avengers-style’ or ‘greatest hits’ installment that unites characters and storylines from previous eras, including Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, and Cult. The season follows Ben DeSoto, a hospice caretaker with a fear of the number 13, at a New York residential building that connects characters from previous seasons.

It features a significant reunion of veteran cast members, most notably Jessica Lange, who returns to reprise four iconic roles—Constance Langdon, Sister Jude, Fiona Goode, and Elsa Mars—alongside a secret fifth mystery character. Other returning stars include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, and Gabourey Sidibe. New additions include John Waters, Paul Anthony Kelly, Joey Pollari, and Ariana Grande.

While the season features strong connections to the Coven season, producers have clarified it is not a direct continuation of that specific story arc. Following its premiere, the season has received a polarizing reception; while critics responded positively with an 83% Tomatometer score, audience reception remains divided. Despite initial indications that this season would be the series’ final installment, FX and Hulu have announced a renewal for a 14th season following the season’s record-breaking streaming launch and appearance on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 charts. The current season is scheduled to conclude with a finale on 29 October 2026.
