Amgen and AstraZeneca report positive clinical trial results for specialized therapies
Amgen has announced that its drug Tepezza (teprotumumab) has been listed on Australia's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). The medication is intended for adult patients with active moderate-to-severe thyroid eye disease (TED), an autoimmune condition that can cause inflammation, tissue expansion, and potential sight loss.
In a separate development, a phase 3 trial known as CROSSING has shown that Tezspire (tezepelumab), developed by AstraZeneca and Amgen, significantly improves symptoms for patients with eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE). The study, which included adolescents and adults, reported that patients receiving Tezspire achieved higher rates of histologic remission and improved swallowing difficulties compared to a placebo group. These benefits were sustained through 52 weeks of treatment.
