Amigo Chui reflects on 2009 domestic violence incident and career recovery

Former TVB host Amigo Chui has spoken publicly about the 2009 domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend, model Kwong Man-wai. Chui admitted to his faults during the altercation, which occurred at his Kowloon Tong residence and involved allegations of physical assault, including striking the victim and choking her.

Following the incident, Chui was terminated by TVB and faced significant financial hardship and social isolation. He revealed that during this period of crisis, an unnamed entertainment industry superstar provided consistent emotional support and advised him to rebuild his career from the ground up. Following this advice, Chui returned to TVB in 2011 as an assistant producer earning a monthly salary of 9,000 HKD before eventually returning to on-screen hosting roles.

The legal case concluded in May 2010 at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts. After Kwong agreed to drop the charges, the prosecution withdrew the assault charges, and Chui was sentenced to a year of good behavior and a 5,000 HKD recognizance bond.
