Amit Shah postpones Amarnath Yatra review meeting to June 12

A high‑level review meeting on security and logistics for the Amarnath Yatra, originally set for June 8, has been deferred to June 12 in New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the meeting, which will assess preparations for the 57‑day pilgrimage that runs from July 3 to August 28.

Senior officials expected to attend include Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and representatives of intelligence agencies and central armed police forces. The ministry has already deployed 670 paramilitary companies to secure entry points such as Lakhanpur and the base camps at Baltal and Nunwan, as well as transport corridors, hospitals, sanitation and accommodation facilities.

Authorities anticipate a large number of pilgrims this year, citing a rise in tourist arrivals and strong registration response. The meeting will review counter‑terror measures, emergency response, healthcare, communication networks and contingency planning to ensure a safe pilgrimage.
