The Gabrovo District Prosecutor's Office is investigating a major incident at the Emko military plant in Belitsa, near Tryavna, where explosions and a fire occurred on July 10. The investigation is currently classified as arson, which led to explosions that endangered the lives of workers and caused significant property damage.

Investigators have been unable to access the immediate site of the explosions due to the presence of unexploded ammunition. A formal inspection of the scene, involving specialists and technical assistants, is planned to proceed once the area is secured. Authorities have seized video recordings and production documentation for analysis.

Several hypotheses are being explored, including the intentional or negligent introduction of an ignition source, a destructive change in production components leading to fire, or violations of occupational health and safety regulations. Emko management has stated that human error is excluded as a cause. The State Agency for National Security (DANS) is also involved in reviewing the various versions of the incident.
