Amnesty International rallies in Molfetta for ten Libyan detainees

Amnesty International Italy organized a demonstration in Molfetta on 18 June 2026, gathering at Corso Umberto I at 18:30. The protest calls on Libyan armed forces and eastern‑southern Libyan authorities to release ten members of the Global Sumud land convoy who have been detained arbitrarily since 24 May for attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.

Among those held are Italian nationals Domenico Centrone and Leonarda Alberizia, who were later interrogated for "unauthorized assembly". A court hearing scheduled for 9 June was postponed. Amnesty highlighted concerns over the detainees' health and the length of their forced disappearance, urging both Libyan and the detainees' home governments to secure their immediate release. Local Amnesty groups, the Global Sumud Flotilla and other organisations joined the march to press the authorities for action.
